Katie & Callum
A big thank you to Katie who has taken the time to tell us about her and Callum's beautiful wedding. It was really nice being part of their big day and give us an opportunity to think outside the box.
Callum and I met at Glastonbury festival in the summer of 2010 and we wanted to bring a bit of that festival feel to our wedding. I was conscious that I still wanted our day to look and feel like a traditional wedding and was a bit disappointed by the festival style wedding stationary that I found online. It was all a bit too brash for me! I was so glad when I spoke to 2flux and saw their designs, they perfectly captured the festival twist on a traditional wedding that we wanted.
Liz and Jenna came up with so many great ideas on our theme! My favourite have to our take on the order of service- the girls came up with a fantastic festival style lanyard on gorgeous blue ribbon. I thought they were really clever and the guests loved them! My other favourite would have to be the table plan. We came up with the idea to name each table after a different stage at Glastonbury. Then we took the festival stage signpost idea and made it into a big table plan. It looked brilliant on the day and really pulled together the theme.
I loved 2flux's range of invitation designs and really liked the bunting ones. We knew we wanted it to be a festival style take on a traditional wedding invitation and so after talking to the girls we went down the 2flux bespoke route. Our colour scheme was dusky pinks and blues and I knew I wanted flower crowns for my bridesmaids. Liz came up with idea of putting the flower crowns onto our invites and we also used "The Line Up" and a wee cartoon of me and Callum in wellies. We had save the dates and rsvp cards to match the invitations too. I was really pleased with how they all turned out.
From start to finish the girls were brilliant to work with. They reply really quickly to any enquiries and sent over designs and ideas quickly too. It was nice to be able to meet in person and look through their portfolio at the start too. The quality of the stationary was very good too and they were delivered recorded delivery and arrived in perfect condition.
I'd definitely recommend getting a Pinterest account when planning a wedding, I found a lot of inspiration from there and you can pins things you've seen online too. I'd also definitely recommend following wedding stationary blogs like this one and also general wedding blogs like love my dress, rock my wedding, we fell in love.Start off thinking about colours you like and what style or theme
My fav moment?! Wow such a hard question! From start to finish it was all amazing (cheesy I know!). I think for me it was having all of our favourite people together in one room. There were several moments that really highlighted that to me including walking down the aisle, when we were piped in for dinner, the speeches and the last dance at the end (Auld Lang Syne/ Loch Lomond). My youngest sister also sang during the ceremony which was really moving.
Big shout out - We used Tandem Photography. I couldnt recommend them highly enough! They were fantastic to work with and Audrey felt like a friend on the day- I was sad when they left. The photos came out really well, very very pleased- if only Callum would let me put more up!
